Ironman World Tour

I thought VR 27 was going to be the end of the Ironman series.  Well, I was wrong. It looks like there's at least one more -- Ironman World Tour.

I plan on registering for these races, but instead of running / biking at race intensity I plan to try to run at training speeds (short runs with no BPM cap, but not all out; long runs / bike - BPM cap around 140/145).

  • VR 28: Run 1.5 km, ride 20 km, then run 5 km
  • VR 29: Run 2 km, ride 20 km, then run 5 km
  • VR 30: Run 2 km, ride 80 km, then run 8 km
  • VR 31: Run 2 km, ride 40 km, then run 15 km
  • VR 32: Run 1.5 km, ride 20 km, then run 5 km
  • VR 33: Run 5 km, ride 90 km, then run 21 km

VR 26: Completed; VR 27 Plan

I completed VR 26.  It was a 'taper' week, so shorter distances than the previous race.

"With your 1:44:28, you finished 1,785th out of 2,866 finishers and 386th out of 598 in your Age Group."

VR 27 is a full 140.6-mile race.  However, they have an option to spread the distance over 7-days.  I'm going to give it a try.  Here's my plan:

  • Run/bike at 'training' speeds (to prevent burn out).  For running, this means I'm going to aim to hold my BPM at 140 or less and walk if needed to keep it down.
  • Run and bike on different days.
  • Have a goal of:
    • One of the runs be a half marathon length (13.1 miles) -- which would be the furthest I've done; and
    • One of the bikes be a metric century (100km) -- which I've done before.
Not entirely sure I'll make it. But let's give it a go!
